Top Christian Dating Apps
Ranking | Dating App | Claim Trial | |
---|---|---|---|
#1 | eHarmony | Try Free | |
#2 | Christian Mingle | Try Free | |
#3 | Zoosk | Try Free | |
#4 | Higher Bond | Try Free | |
#5 | Christian Cafe | Try Free |
1. eHarmony
While it’s technically a mainstream dating app, eHarmony is often referred to as a Christian dating app because of two things. One—it’s absolutely loaded with quality Christian singles. Two—it has a serious focus on meaningful relationships and marriage, which are things that align with the Christian goal of dating. Without a doubt, eHarmony is our top pick for the best Christian dating apps out there.
2. Christian Mingle
You can’t say Christian dating online without someone bringing up Christian Mingle. Around since 2001, the dating app now was over 15 million members and has a phenomenal track record for building faith-focused relationships. If finding a faith partner is important to you and you want to do it on a simplified and easy-to-use platform, check out Christian Mingle.
3. Zoosk
Our third stop on the list of the best Christian dating apps is another mainstream option that comes jampacked with over 35 million members. Now, not all of these people are Christians, but a lot of them are. The pros of Zoosk for Christians are the ability to sort and filter by religion, an extremely affordable price point, and access to the largest userbase in the world. The drawbacks are that there are a lot of non-Christians on the site. But we think the pros outweigh the drawbacks, and it’s 100% worth checking out.
4. Higher Bond
Don’t be surprised if Higher Bond finds itself at the top of our list by the end of 2022. The new app launched in 2022 and looks to revolutionize the way Christians date online. The idea is to take a much deeper look at the important aspects of faith like “how important is prayer to you?”, instead of the surface-level things like “how often do you go to church?”
Sign up now and you’ll get a free 3-month premium membership!
5. Christian Café
Yes, the Christian Café website looks to be a bit dated but that doesn’t discount the site’s incredible focus on the important aspects of Christian courtship and relationships. Founded in 1998, the site is one of the few on our list that actually comes with a full-feature free trial (for 10 days). If you’re okay with the older look of the site, it’s absolutely worth taking a minute to check it out.
6. SilverSingles
One of the last mainstream apps on our list is SilverSingles, a website fully dedicated to singles 50 years of age and older. As there are Christian singles of all ages, we wanted to include one of our favorite options for seasoned singles that also has a ton of Christians! If you’re someone who doesn’t want to have to rifle through a list of people who are too young and you want the easiest technology to use with the best customer support, you’ve got to give SilverSingles a go.
7. Christian Cupid
As part of the Cupid Media brand of websites, Christian Cupid is a niche-focused dating app that aims to simplify the process. You won’t find any of the big bells and whistles of matching algorithms and such here. However, what you will find are a nice community of Christian singles and an easy-to-follow matchmaking experience. Expect a smaller userbase here, but it’s worth a check if the previous options aren’t right for you.
8. Upward
One of the newer Christian dating apps on the market is Upward. With over 50k ratings on iOS, it certainly is an app that is gaining some steam. That being said, it’s important to point out that the app is basically Tinder for Christians. It’s heavily driven by photos and how people look, which we’re not the biggest fans of, but it might be the right thing for you. If you like the idea of swipe-dating and don’t care as much about the faith side of the profile, it’s worth a shot.
9. Jdate
While we do have a fully dedicated Jewish dating app guide, there’s a chance some of you ended up here (and that’s okay!). If you’re a Jewish single looking for a place for faith dating, there really is no other name at the top than Jdate. As part of the Spark Networks brand of sites (which include Christian Mingle), you know you’re getting quality.
10. Elite Singles
The final mainstream dating app on our list is Elite Singles. Again, this app is not 100% Christian singles, but there are a good number of them on the app. Users can set their matching preferences to filter by faith preferences, which makes it easy to use as a Christian dating app. What’s also neat about this app is there is a heavy focus on educated singles with over 85% of the people holding an above-average level of education. If you find education and achievement attractive, Elite Singles should be on your radar.
11. Catholic Match
If you’re a Catholic single looking for a lot of dating site options, we’d encourage you to check out our Catholic dating site guide. However, if you just want to check out the leading brand that’s 100% dedicated to Catholic Singles—it’s Catholic Match. Supported by prominent Catholic leaders, the site carries a strong track record of success in matching singles focused on their faith.
12. CDFF
CDFF, short for Christian Dating for Free, is what you might guess—a free Christian dating app. As you’ll read later on, we’re not huge fans of completely free sites for some safety and security reasons. That being said, if you really have $0 to invest in finding your future someone, this might be a better than nothing option worth checking out.
13. Crosspaths
The Crosspaths Christian app looks to be an interesting option if you’re interested in making new friends. The app does boast it also works for dating, but we have some reservations about apps that try and “do too much.” When you have people looking for dating and people looking for friends in the same arena, it generally breeds awkward interactions and strips away the ability to confidently message other singles. If you’re looking for friends, it might be worth a go.
14. United Young
Much like Crosspaths, this Christian dating app also tries to straddle the friends and dating options along with adding in networking. It’s great that they’re looking to connect people “passionate about Jesus,” but we’d really like to see them pick a lane and do that well. Unfortunately, it looks like United Young gives you a bit of a watered-down approach to friends, dating, and networking. Added for completeness, but not at the top of our list.
15. Eden
One thing we liked about the Eden app’s website is they did have a lot of scripture, which does show a good focus on the important things. Our issue, though, is that it’s extremely outdated and does not look like a lot of effort was put behind development. This checks out when you go to the partnership page that is asking for investors to put in money to grow the site. While we added it for the sake of completeness to our list of Christian dating apps, we do think there are better options you can try.
16. CFaith
Another free Christian dating app is CFaith. While we’re impressed it’s available on iOS and Google Play, the website looks like it hasn’t had an upgrade in a long, long time. Everything seems quite generic and like it lacks the resources needed to produce a quality product. When you look at the ratings on the App Store, they’re decent at a 4.2 but there are less than 1k of them. This probably means an extremely small userbase which doesn’t make it that ideal for most users.
17. Christian Connection
With over two decades in the market, Christian Connection is an app worth considering. One thing to note, though, is that while the app advertises as being worldwide, it does appear to have a much stronger presence in the UK market, which might make it not so ideal for anyone living in the United States. The site advertises winning a lot of awards, though, they aren’t really from any form of reputable source that we can find. Overall, if you’re from the UK and want to try something, this might be worth checking out.

Why We Love These Christian Dating Apps
Want to know why these specific apps (especially the ones at the top) made our list? Happy to share! Here are a handful of the reasons we chose and ranked these apps accordingly.
A Central Focus on Faith
The focus of a faith-based relationship is, well, faith! And for that reason, any app claiming to meet those needs must have a well-defined focus on the important aspects of faith. Ideally, this boils down to robust enough profiles that give you the flexibility to clearly convey what is most important to you in life and in a partner.
As you see, we have included some mainstream dating apps that aren’t 100% Christian-focused. The reason they still made the list is because they are also filled with Christian singles and do give you the adequate space to share what’s important to you as it regards to your faith.
Accepting of All Denominations
While we all fall under the umbrella of Christianity, there are quite a few different denominations and sects within that realm. And whether you’re Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopal, or any of the other hundreds of Christian denominations—we want you to be able to feel at home. The best Christian dating apps understand this and leave room for you to share your specific feelings on faith, unique needs, and what is most important to you.
Protections for a Wholesome Experience
One of the most important aspects of the online dating experience for Christians is keeping things safe, wholesome, and in line with our responsibilities of the faith. And while some of this onus does fall on us, a lot falls on the apps and sites themselves. In order to make our list, sites need to be proactively doing things to protect the sanctity and quality of the process.
This includes, but is not limited to things like:
- Photo and profile moderation
- Blocking and reporting capabilities
- No tolerance for inappropriate content
- Quality customer service
A Track Record Worth Sharing
While the greatest part about being a Christian is we’re not judged for the mistakes of our past, the same can’t be said when it comes to Christian dating sites. One of the best ways to separate the winners from the duds is to look at each company’s track record.
This includes a look at things like:
- Has the company done anything unethical before?
- Has the company taken any public stances on things that contradict the accepted views of the Christian faith?
- How good are the companies at matching up Christian singles for marriage and dating?
- Is there anything else that might cause concern as a wholesome space for Christian singles?
While we absolutely forgive any Christian dating app for mistakes of the past, it does not mean that we’ll be recommending them to you when there are much better options with stronger track records available.
The Necessary Bells and Whistles
Here’s the reality. Many Christian dating sites are overloaded with too many features that sound great in practice but just muddy up the waters when it comes to matchmaking. That being said, there are also some apps lacking the necessary features for effective matchmaking. When we’re selecting the best Christian dating apps, we look for the healthy middle ground of enough features to get the job done but not so many that you feel overwhelmed.
The Church’s View on Online Dating
For many Christian singles looking into downloading or visiting a Christian dating app, there are questions. Does God approve of online dating? Is the Church supportive of using online dating apps? Am I going to get judged by other Christians for using technology to find love?
All of these are phenomenal questions that we’d like to address. We’ve done extensive research speaking to Biblical scholars, Pastors, and faith-focused relationship counselors to see where they stand on the issue.
Here’s what we found.
Absolutely no one that we talked to mentioned there were any issues with Christians using online dating apps, so long as they focused on keeping themselves safe and focused on the faith. In other words, as long as you used the apps to meet other Christian singles and didn’t stray toward those who didn’t believe, you’re good!
In fact, many of the Church leaders we talked to thought the idea of leveraging technology to connect like-minded Christian singles was awesome!
Will I Be Judged by Members of the Church?
Just because the Church leaders approve of something doesn’t mean everyone in the congregation is going to be as well-informed and as open to the changing times. You may get a few side-eyed looks from the older members of the congregation (some not all). But it’s important to remember that random older people are not the voice of reason on the topic. As long as you’re comfortable with the process and believe it’s in line with God’s plan (which from our research we believe it 100% is), you’re all set!
If you do have any reservations still, we recommend talking to a few Pastors or church leaders to get some insight. And above all else, pray and seek answers in God’s Word.
Christian Dating for Marriage
Probably the most popular use of Christian dating apps is to find someone to marry! The entire purpose of Christian dating is to eventually find someone special you can build a God-serving life with. There are some people who want to start out by taking things slower and more casually, but the end goal is still to find someone to marry.
Does online dating work for Christian marriage? Are there specific Christian dating sites for marriage? The answers, respectively, are yes and no. Yes, Christian dating apps are incredible for helping singles find someone to marry who shares their beliefs.
And no, there aren’t specific Christian dating sites for marriage. Why? Well, because every Christian dating site is a site built for marriage! So, you won’t find many sites that advertise marriage being the chief goal, but just by the very nature of the singles there—that’s what the goal is.
So, if you’re searching for someone to marry that shares your Christian beliefs, all of the dating apps recommended in this guide are going to be perfect for you.
Free Christian Dating – Pros, Cons, and Options
One of the more popular questions we get a lot is whether or not there are free Christian dating apps and sites. And the follow-up question to that is usually whether or not these sites are worth it. Let’s answer both of those questions now as completely as possible.
Are there free Christian dating sites?
Yes, there are several 100% free Christian dating sites on the market. Additionally, there are many premium Christian dating sites that offer free trial accounts to try before you buy. Generally, these trials are somewhat limited but do give you a good opportunity to see if an upgrade purchase is worth it to you or not.
Are free Christian dating sites worth it?
Here’s the bigger question. Are these free Christian dating sites and apps worth it? In our opinion, no, they are not worth it, and here’s why. When you use a dating app that requires a premium subscription, you’re not just padding the pockets of the site owners. You’re paying for additional services, protections, and amenities that you can’t get when the site is 100% free. And when it comes to Christian dating, these can be even more important.
Here’s what you’re missing out on when you use a free Christian dating app.
- Free apps don’t have the financial resources to offer top-of-the-line quality filters. This means that the odds of seeing inappropriate content and vulgar pictures are a lot higher.
- Free apps have less adequate customer service. This means that if you have a problem or need help, you’re going to be left fending for yourself or waiting for a long time.
- Free apps usually come with ads. Unfortunately, there isn’t always oversight into the types of ads shown, which could cause issues with products that don’t support the Christian faith and ideals.
- Free apps have lower quality or no filters for fake accounts, scammers, and spammers. What this means is that you’re going to have to fight through a lot of landmines that aren’t there for the same reasons you are. You could still occasionally run into these issues with paid apps, but they are much fewer and farther between.
Ultimately, finding the right person for you is something we believe is worth investing in. And by investing a few dollars a month in that, you get a higher quality experience, better results, and a much safer environment. We included a few 100% free options on our list of the best Christian dating apps, but merely for completeness.
Tips to Choose the Best Christian Dating App
Looking for a little more guidance on how to pick out the best Christian dating app for you? Look no further! Here are a few suggestions for you.
- Pray – Above all else, pray. Online dating is only a medium for which God can work. Pray and let him guide you to the best site.
- Don’t overthink it. – While you should put some thought into this, don’t let it consume you with overthinking. If you’re completely stuck, just start with the free trial for the first app on the list and work your way down until you find something that feels right.
- You can always change. – Even if you upgrade to a premium Christian dating account, you can always change to a different site later! Keep this in mind in case you’re on the fence about a few options.
- You can join more than one dating app. – While we never recommend joining more than two (maximum 3) dating apps at a time, we wanted to make sure you’re aware that you can join more than one. Just ensure you don’t overwhelm yourself with too much activity!
- Assess your strengths and weaknesses. – Are you going to struggle with chatting with non-believers if they’re attractive and reach out to you? If so, stick with one of the Christian-only sites. If not, feel free to use any of the options on the list!
- Be careful with phone a friend. – Getting recommendations from friends is generally a good idea, but be a little wary of it when it comes to online dating. Many people attribute the quality of an option to one or two experiences they had on there. If they met a few people they didn’t connect with, they might tell you it’s a terrible site, but that’s not really the case. It’s okay to ask friends for suggestions, but do it with the right filter.
