How Do You Pay for eHarmony Membership?
First, you’ll need to visit eHarmony’s website and register with your email address or Facebook profile to create an account. After joining, eHarmony will redirect you to the Compatibility Quiz as part of the sign-up process. The quiz takes about 20 minutes to finish, and you’ll become a free member upon completion.
You can upgrade your account as soon as you complete the quiz. Head to the top right-hand side of the page and open the drop-down menu located by your profile picture. Then, select “Data and Settings” and click “Become a Premium Member Now” near the top of the page.
Next, choose from the three membership plans and decide how to pay. eHarmony accepts:
- Visa
- MasterCard
- Discover
- American Express
- PayPal
eHarmony also lets you decide if you want to break up the payments instead of paying in full. You’ll need to choose one of the following:
- One payment (Pay in full)
- Two payments
- Four payments
- Monthly payments
Breaking it up into monthly payments costs an extra $1-$3 a month, depending on the membership. Otherwise, you’ll pay the same amount regardless of your number of payments.
Does eHarmony Cost the Same for Everyone?
eHarmony prices differ based on the country of residence. Also, the site often runs promotions, allowing people to pay less than the normal price for a membership. Look at the top of the page when logging into eHarmony to see if there’s an active promotion running so you can save money when upgrading.
Comparing Memberships – eHarmony Basic, Light, Extra, and Plus
The Basic (free) membership lets users receive unlimited matches, although other features are limited. As a free member, you can receive and send icebreakers, greetings, and smiles and find out who visits your profile. Plus, you can respond to the first message someone sends you but not subsequent messages.
However, you can get a lot more out of eHarmony by upgrading.
At first glance, it looks like eHarmony offers three membership tiers – Premium Light, Premium Extra, and Premium Plus. In reality, these memberships contain the same features, but the pricing differs based on the length of the membership.
For instance, Premium Light only lasts for six months and has the highest monthly fee, while Premium Extra has the lowest monthly cost and lasts for 24 months.
If you become a premium member, you’ll be able to:
- View unlimited photos
- Send and receive unlimited messages
- See who viewed your profile
- Search by distance
- Filter your matches
- Review detailed personality profiles
- Receive a free profile check
You’ll receive the best value by getting a Premium Plus membership. It provides a nice balance between cost and membership length and is the most popular of the three pricing tiers. You’ll have a full year to meet your ideal match, and the monthly cost is much lower than the six-month plan.
Some people sign up for a full two years, but we’ve discovered that often isn’t necessary. The site excels at matching people based on compatibility, and many find “the one” after spending several months or a year on eHarmony.
Do eHarmony Memberships Renew Automatically?
Yes, premium memberships automatically renew unless canceled. Select “Amend Subscription” under “Data and Settings” on the web to turn off automatic renewal.
You can also turn it off through iTunes on your Apple device or Google Play on your Android device.
Can You Use eHarmony Without Paying?
Yes, you can use eHarmony for free. Take the dating site for a test drive by claiming a free trial to eHarmony. After spending some time on the site, you’ll know if you want to upgrade to unlock the premium features.
Is eHarmony Membership Worth It?
Yes! Over two million people have found love on eHarmony since its inception, breaking down to a person every 14 minutes. However, it’s going to be challenging to join those millions of happy people if you stick with a free membership.
The free membership is a good starting point to get a feel for the site, but eHarmony blurs the photos and limits conversations on these accounts.
Once you upgrade, you can fully participate on the site, including sending unlimited messages. Considering that members send 2.3 million messages each week, there are lots of good conversations going on, and you’ll want to participate.
